Question:
There is no sound on the DVDs I burn using Windows DVD Maker. Okay, so I just got a Windows 7 laptop that had Windows DVD Maker on it. I started burning movies with NO problem with perfect quality and perfect audio. Now all of a sudden there is NO Sound on the DVDs I burnt using Windows 7 DVD Maker. It’s not just one file but all the files I try to burn onto DVDs. Is there something wrong with Windows DVD Maker? How can I fix the sound/audio problem?
Windows DVD Maker, a free DVD burning tool provided on Windows 7/Vista, might be a really nice program available because the way it creates the menu/preview at the beginning of the disc is very cool. However, there are always issues caused by it when you try to make a DVD. If you encountered the problem that no sound on the DVD burnt using Windows DVD Maker, you are not alone, trust me. This is the most popular problem with Windows DVD Maker. While you are worrying about creating a DVD, you may want to have a look at how to fix the problem. The following solutions are all collected from the Internet and we organized all possibilities. Hopefully they might be helpful to resolve your current sound/audio problem.
We recommend you to restore the Windows DVD maker settings to factory Default Settings as the audio and video filters sometimes cause this issue. Video and audio filters are pieces of software that are installed on your computer that help interpret video files so that they will display and play properly. Windows Movie Maker uses them when you import video and audio.
To restore the settings, try these steps.
1. Open Windows DVD maker.
2. Click Tools, and then click Options.
3. Click the Compatibility tab.
4. Do one of the following:
• To turn off a filter, clear the check box next to the video filter name.
• To turn on a filter, select the check box next to the video filter name.
• To restore the default list, click Restore All Defaults.
5. Restart DVD maker and burn a new DVD to check if the issue persists.
When you restore the default settings, the list and settings for the filters are reset to the last known good setting. (Click here to learn more.)
It might be the issue with the Codec which might be missing from the system and need to be installed. Just install the latest Codec to your machine which might show the compatibility with the system.
You may have to install codec’s and check. Try to install codec’s which might be missing from your system. Refer to this link for downloading codec’s.
Alternatively, you may download K-Lite Codec pack (compatible with Vista and Windows 7) at: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm
Check out: Are you able to hear the sound when you create a preview with the DVD Maker? Have you installed the latest drivers for your Audio device after installing Windows you’re your computer?
You will have to install the latest drivers for your Audio device. Visit the computer or the device manufacturers’ website and install the latest driver for your Audio Device. You may refer the below article that will give you information on ‘How to Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly’.
Also, you may download the latest Windows DVD Maker from the official website and install it to see whether it is working or not.
The disc type may not be compatible. Some DVD players or DVD-ROM drives can only play certain kinds of DVDs. For example, some DVD players only play DVD+R or DVD+RW discs, while others only play DVD-R or DVD-RW discs.
It’s easy to see why there is such a big market in 3rd party programs, because you still can't rely on Windows for many things, I can see why the Mac users laugh so much at Windows, the system seems to work nice in Win 7 but as soon as you want some good stuff or fun stuff like making a DVD using Windows DVD Maker, then forget it, just get that 3rd party app.
The best and most reliable DVD burning tool that I've ever used is a tool called DVD Creator. It's able to burn all kinds of videos to DVD disc. No extra codec is needed. It also lets you edit videos and create DVD menus. Easy to use and professional. Once you’ve burnt videos/photos to DVD disc, you can view on your home DVD player without a single problem.
