Question:
How can I convert MSWMM file to other common file formats so that they can be played by Windows Movie Maker? Okay, so I made a movie with Windows Movie Maker and I need to save it to my hard disc. Next time when I open this MSWMM file, however, Windows Movie Maker won’t let me and said: ".MSWMM is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker." I tried many software and obviously none of them read this MSWMM format. Any kind of
MSWMM converter I can use to
convert MSWMM files to WMV or something else?
Part 1 What is MSWMM?
The MSWMM file type is primarily associated with 'Windows Movie Maker' by Microsoft Corporation. With Windows Movie Maker, Windows XP delivers software that helps you create, edit, and share the home movies you make with either an analog or digital video camera. When your movies are complete, you can view them and share them using Windows Media Player for Windows XP. This is a project file and does not contain actual media; only pointers to it. So, basically, MSWMM file is not a video files, it’s a project file from Windows Movie Maker.
Part 2 How to convert MSWMM files to WMV in Windows Movie Maker?
Open *.MSWMM file in Windows Movie Maker (click "File -> Open Project") and save the movie to your computer: Go to Finish Movie > Save to my computer. Then Windows Movie Maker will ask you to enter a file name for your movie and choose a folder to save your movie.
The movie will be saved as a WMV file in the PC. Now you have successfully converted MSWMM to WMV. Windows Movie Maker also lets you save/
convert MSWMM to AVI. You may select AVI accordingly when saving the file.
Part 3 Difference between Windows Movie Maker and Windows Live Movie Maker:
Windows Live Movie Maker is the newest version of Windows Movie Maker, making use of the new "Windows Live" online experience. The major difference is the use of web applications, requiring less disk space on your home machine for most projects, and allowing easy integration into the various other Live applications - simplifying publication to YouTube and other social networks.
Windows Movie Maker:
. Works on Windows XP, Vista, Win7.
. Uses detailed timeline
. Buttons are a somehow hidden
. As a first time user, it may be difficult to explore all the features.
. Works bad with HD files
Windows Live Movie Maker:
. Works only on Vista, Win7 (it works even better)
. Uses storyboard timeline (does the basic job)
. As a first time user, it would be much Easier to explore all the effects and features.
. Works perfectly with HD video files and publish them to Youtube, Facebook, Flickr & Skydrive.
. All buttons are visible on the New Win7 Ribbon
Also, Windows Movie Maker is integrated with Windows XP. However, Windows Live Movie Maker is bundled with Windows Live Essentials which need to be downloaded by yourself at Live official site.
