Question:
I would like to convert movies I have into DVD format so I can watch on my portable DVD player, but I’d like to burn multiple episodes to a DVD disc because it’s a TV show and I have the whole season of them. So, the question is how to burn/fit multiple episodes onto a DVD disc which can be played on home DVD player? Or, how to burn different kinds of video files to a DVD?
Answer:
Well, there has been lots of question like this on how to burn multiple movies/episodes onto a DVD disc. How to exactly do that? Is that even possible? Actually, it’s totally possible. If you have the right DVD burning tool, you will be able to burn 2 and more movies/episodes to a DVD disc. This guide will teach you how to make a DVD disc from multiple movies/episodes.
Note:
How many movies/episodes you can burn onto one DVD disc depends on how length your movie is. The general rule, a DVD-5 (Single Layer DVD disc) can hold up to 122 minutes of videos, while a DVD-9 (Dual Layer DVD disc) can hold up to 221 minutes of videos. For example, you have a TV show that’s 55 minutes for each episode, then you can burn 2 episodes onto a DVD-5 disc, 4 episodes onto a DVD-9 disc.
So, you may ask further, a single episode is just around 200 MB, a DVD-5 disc can hold up to 4.7GB files, why just 2 episodes? That’s right, 4.7 GB is for files of a data disc, not a video DVD which can be played on home DVD player. Here we are going to talk about how to burn Video DVD.
First of all, as we said, you will need the right DVD burning tool. There are many DVD burning tool out there, not all of them can burn multiple movies to DVD disc. What we use is a professional tool called DVD Creator. It’s able to burn multiple movies/episodes to DVD disc. Both DVD-5 and DVD-9 are supported. DVD Creator is able to burn DVDs from all kinds of videos, including AVI, MP4, MPEG, WMV, MKV, MOV, iTunes videos, etc.
Free Download DVD Creator 75.2MB
Free Download DVD Creator for Mac 63.8MB
Once you’ve downloaded the tool, double click the .exe file to install it. Then you may want to add your movies/episodes to DVD Creator. Drag imported videos to storyboard below to make DVD project.
Note:
If the length of the total movies exceeds a DVD disc can holds, it will be red at the bottom of the interface.
Select a DVD menu from the built-in various DVD menus to make a real DVD. You may also customize the DVD background by adding your own photo.
Like we said, a DVD-5 disc can hold up to 122 minutes of videos. Exactly. What if you want to burn 3 episodes of 129 minutes length in total? If you don’t mind the beginning and end of the TV show, you can trim the TV show a little bit, say 3 minutes for each. Then you will be able to fit 3 episodes of 120 minutes on a DVD-5 disc. This does not hurt the real show, right?
Click one episodes from the story board and click on “Edit selected video file” to trim the video. Set the Start and End time, and click OK to trim video.
Let’s see how it goes after we trimmed the video a little bit. It’s all green now which indicates the length does not exceed 122 minutes.
Now you are ready to burn multiple movies/episodes to a DVD disc. Insert a blank writable DVD disc into your DVD burner drive and get started the burning process.
The burning time varies according to the specific movie. Once the video to DVD process is finished, you can watch the DVD on home DVD player. This DVD Creator could also burn many other videos to DVD disc.
